“Forewords and Afterwords” is a conceptual photo album by legendary Belarusian rock journalist Vitaŭt Martynienka dedicated to Belarusian music, mass culture, and the independent cultural scene.

The project combines original texts by Martynienka with archival photography documenting the Belarusian rock and show-business scene between 1989 and 2006. The title references Francišak Skaryna’s collection of the same name and reflects the author’s interest in connecting contemporary Belarusian culture with deeper historical traditions.

Alongside essays and cultural reflections, the edition features photographs by some of the most important visual chroniclers of Belarusian music culture. Combining rare archival imagery with elegant Belarusian-language writing, the album becomes both a cultural document and a collectible artifact of the Belarusian independent scene.
