A rare Belarusian detective novel set in the aftermath of the 2020 protests.
In Minsk of 2022, marked by repression and fear, the members of the Guild of Urban Madmen are shaken by the murder of Žanna Tancen, a bohemian figure and participant in the demonstrations of 2020. Soon, another local legend—the street singer known as the Kamaroŭka Primadonna—appears to be in danger.
With the police focused on political persecution rather than criminal investigation, the case falls to Jakub Piśmienny, his resourceful associate Arkadź Tabibulajeŭ, and the ghost of his grandmother Hania Piśmiennaja. Blending mystery, dark humour, and contemporary Belarusian reality, the novel offers an unusual take on the detective genre.
