“Elevator Journey” by Yuhasia Kaliada is a novel blending speculative fiction and psychological drama, exploring memory, loss, love, and the connection between personal lives and Belarusian history.

What if the places we have left behind still exist somewhere in the fog of the past? What if we could return to our childhood homes, revisit lost memories, or even send letters between the worlds of the living and the dead?

Beginning as a mysterious journey through an afterlife filled with elevators, timelines, and bureaucracy, the story gradually unfolds into a deeply personal exploration of guilt, lost love, broken friendships, youthful mistakes, and complicated family relationships.

Set in Minsk during the 1990s, 2000s, and 2020, as well as in a strange place beyond time, the novel connects individual experiences with defining moments in Belarusian history.
