“Braids Take a Day” is a coming-of-age novel about family, identity, friendship, and the questions that arise while growing up.

Abidemi is looking forward to her final summer at home before leaving for college. She plans to spend time with friends, learn new braiding styles, and enjoy the freedom of a new chapter in life. But when she meets a mysterious woman from Nigeria, long-hidden family secrets begin to emerge, forcing Abi to rethink her past and the person she wants to become.

Written by Zainab Boladale and featuring cover artwork by Grace Enemaku, the novel explores belonging, cultural heritage, and self-discovery through the experiences of a young woman standing between childhood and adulthood.
