“Zekameron” is a collection of texts by Belarusian lawyer, writer, and political prisoner Maksim Znak, written during his imprisonment in a Belarusian detention centre.
Created under conditions of isolation and pressure, these texts combine irony, tenderness, inner freedom, and reflections on dignity, fear, memory, and human resilience. Part of the book is published here for the first time.
Despite prison walls and censorship, Znak preserves a vivid and deeply human voice — restrained, sharp, and unexpectedly warm.
This edition continues the series “Belarusian Prison Literature”.
