“Salt of the Earth” by Pavel Seviarynets is a collection of twelve quizzes, each containing 33 questions, exploring Belarusian culture, history, faith, and the world around us.

The book began taking shape in July 2020, while the author was held in solitary confinement at the Akrestsina detention centre. During his imprisonment, Seviarynets developed quiz questions and shared them with his family through letters. Five years later, these reflections became a book.

Covering world culture, science, cinema, sports, music, architecture, geography, politics, economics, and the Bible, the collection invites readers to discover Belarus, deepen their knowledge, and reflect on their own identity.

More than a book of questions and answers, “Salt of the Earth” encourages readers to consider what it means to be a good Belarusian and a good person.
