Book “Vacłaŭ Łastoŭski’s 1928 Expedition: Preserved Heritage”
Vacłaŭ Łastoŭski’s 1928 Expedition: Preserved Heritage is a photo album and popular history catalogue dedicated to the 1928 ethnographic expedition led by Vacłaŭ Łastoŭski across the regions of Słucak and Mazyrščyna.
The volume presents around 300 rare photographs documenting traditional Belarusian culture, including folk costume, weaving, rural architecture, everyday life, and sacred art. Created shortly before the political upheavals and repressions of the 1930s, these images preserve an invaluable visual record of a disappearing cultural landscape.
Published from materials preserved in the collection of the Francis Skaryna Belarusian Library and Museum in London, the book offers a unique insight into the heritage, history, and ethnography of Belarus.
